RoughRiders Lacrosse – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Welcome to RoughRiders Lacrosse, based in Superior, Colorado. Below you'll find answers to common questions about our programs, coaching, schedule, equipment, and more.

Where is RoughRiders Lacrosse located?

We are based in Superior, Colorado, with access to top-tier facilities, including:

  • Williams Turf Field
  • Superior Commons
  • The Sport Stable Turf

Additional field locations are being added to support our growing program.

Who can participate in RoughRiders Lacrosse?

We serve youth boys and girls in 1st through 8th grade, from beginner to advanced levels.

Our mission is to provide access to lacrosse for all, regardless of background or experience.

What facilities are available to players and families?

Players and families benefit from access to premier facilities, including:

  • Priority indoor and outdoor turf access at the Sport Stable
  • Sports performance training through Impact Sports
  • Classrooms and film rooms for video review and lacrosse education
  • On-site restaurant for families during practices and events

Who are the coaches?

Our staff includes:

  • Current and former high school lacrosse coaches
  • Former college lacrosse players
  • Experienced youth coaches

All coaches are personally trained by Director Ethan LaHoda to ensure consistency and quality across the program.

What seasons and leagues do RoughRiders teams participate in?

Spring (Primary Season)

  • Boys and girls teams compete in the Arapahoe Youth Lacrosse League (AYL)
  • Open to all experience levels, grades 1 through 8
  • Diversity and inclusion are central to our mission—if you want to try lacrosse, we have a spot for you

Summer

  • Learn-to-Play Clinics
  • Multi-sport crossover events
  • High Impact Training (1 hour lacrosse + 1 hour performance training)

Fall

  • Teams compete in the Northern Colorado Lacrosse League (NCLL)
  • Continued High Impact Training
  • Learn-to-Play Clinics and other events

Winter

  • Indoor turf access multiple days per week
  • Sixes league play, film review sessions, and advanced training
  • Ongoing High Impact Training with Impact Sports

What is High Impact Training?

High Impact Training is a year-round developmental program run in partnership with Impact Sports. Each session includes:

  • One hour of advanced positional lacrosse training
  • One hour of sports performance focused on speed, agility, strength, and mobility

Led by experienced RoughRiders coaches and directors, this program plays a major role in athlete growth and preparation.

What equipment is required?

Boys Equipment List

  • Helmet
  • Shoulder pads (NOCSAE-certified)
  • Elbow pads
  • Gloves
  • Lacrosse stick
  • Mouthguard
  • Cleats

Girls Equipment List

  • Lacrosse goggles
  • Mouthguard
  • Lacrosse stick
  • Cleats

Note:

For Learn-to-Play Clinics, only a lacrosse stick is required. We have loaner sticks available for new players at no cost.
